Louis Armstrong
Don knew and greatly admired Louis Armstrong. When Don heard that Louis Armstrong was sick one day, he went to visit him. “Satchmo” had his horn and neckties right there by his side. Fortunately, he soon recovered and was blowing again!

(For all those who are familiar with the story of Don losing his trumpet in the subway, well… of course it did not end there. Don was always a musician, you cannot lose that! He later went and bought another trumpet (cornet) and played all his life long. Click here to see more about Don and his cornet!
