Unpublished Book Ideas

Don left behind many unpublished works, some as ideas quickly sketched out in notebooks, others as complete dummies (mock-ups with illustrations and text by hand on each page). He was constantly dreaming up new ideas for children’s books. Many of these ideas never got off of his desk. However, some might still find their way to print - with a little help. A few of these have been published in recent years, for instance, Gregory’s Shadow, Manuelo the Playing Mantis, and Earl the Squirrel. There are still more unpublished works, some of which are shown here. Maybe you have an idea on how to finish one of these! The examples give an idea of how Don worked, often with several book ideas running in parallel and others that he worked on for years.
