This image is from Don’s Newsstand Vol 1. No. 2 (April 1944). Don wrote:
“Besides the many friends who miss him, I am sure not the least to be counted are the sidewalks of New York. There must be hardly a block which did not know his slow but affectionate pace. He paid tribute to his city with the rich warmth of his palette. Fortunately for us, during his last year he wrote about his life an pictures. This book, “Artist in Manhattan”, stands as a poetic testament of a man who always had summer in his heart.”
