The Art Students League
That is John Sloan, front row second from left (with glasses), and that is Don behind him, second row far left (white shirt and tie). The others I have not yet identified. Does anybody know who they are? In the photograph below, I think the third from the left is Esther Goetz. For more on Esther, click here. Other students at the League at this time were Jackson Pollock (that might be him sitting just below Don in the upper photo), Manuel Tolegian, Whitney Darrel Jr., and Helen Farr. Besides John Sloan, teachers were Thomas Hart Benton, Jerome Myers, and Harry Wickey.
A viewer reported to me that second figure (from left to right - the bald headed man) is Reginald Marsh. Also, if you count from left to right the heads of the men, the 4th head of the man with the moustache is probably Aaron Bohrod. Thanks for the information!
